Ones enjoyment of school re-unions generally grows with the years…..!
On 14th October 2014 the lunch organised by Tony Roche was a
good example of the above observation. In 2008 Tony had a
chance meeting in the Imperial Hotel with 3 other members
from the fifties era. A repeat event was supported by 8
members, the next event had 15. in April last year there
were 23. This recent event commenced at 12.30 in the Imperial
Hotel Carvery, and continued until 4/5pm. Members collected
their lunch from the Carvery and proceeded to a private room
where there was a “pay bar”. The free travel brought people
from Dublin, Limerick, Murroe, Clonmel, Newcastle West, Gort,
Bray, Midleton, Macroom, Lismore, Dungarvan, and Cork City. The afternoon was very enjoyable, very informal and at a
reasonable cost, all of which had the over sixties and over
seventies (not to forget the over eighties ) having good fun.
We were delighted to have the company of Fr. Philip (1946) and
the presence of the immediate Past President, Henry St.J Blake
(1960). The attendance ranged from Raymond Bowers (1951) Tony Meagher (1952 ) John Murphy (1954 )John Meagher (1956 ) Peter O’Connor (1956 ) Cianan Fennessy (1956) Robert Cussen (1957 ) Peter Bruck (1957) John Goor (1957 ) Dan Binchy (1958) John Carlos (1958) Harvey Kenny (1958 ) Paul VanCauwelaert (1958 ) Stephen Woulfe-Flanagan (1958 ) George Dwyer (1959 ) Tony Roche (1959 ) John Cussen (1960 ) John Potter-Cogan (1963 ) and Brian Callanan (1963 ).
Apologies from Marcus McMahon (1960) , John Gore Grimes (1959) and Peter Fletcher (1959 ). In the event of a name being omitted please accept apologies.
